This course covers basic maintenance fundamentals for power transmission equipment. Topics include equipment inspection, lubrication, alignment, and other scheduled maintenance procedures. Upon completion, students should be able to demonstrate knowledge of accepted maintenance procedures and practices according to current industry standards.

This course introduces basic techniques and safety procedures in clinical microbiology. Emphasis is placed on the morphology and identification of common pathogenic organisms, aseptic technique, staining techniques, and usage of common media. Upon completion, students should be able to demonstrate theoretical comprehension in performing and interpreting basic clinical microbiology procedures.

This course introduces all aspects of the medical laboratory profession. Topics include health care/laboratory organization, professional ethics, basic laboratory techniques, safety, quality assurance, and specimen collection. Upon completion, students should be able to demonstrate a basic understanding of laboratory operations and be able to perform basic laboratory skills.

This course is a survey of the literature of first-century Christianity with readings from the gospels, Acts, and the Pauline and pastoral letters. Topics include the literary structure, audience, and religious perspective of the writings, as well as the historical and cultural context of the early Christian community. Upon completion, students should be able to use the tools of critical analysis to read and understand New Testament literature. The subject matter is taught from a nonsectarian stance not promoting any particular group's religious beliefs. This course has been approved for transfer under the CAA and ICAA as a general education course in Humanities/Fine Arts.

This course introduces the programmable logic controller (PLC) and its associated applications. Topics include ladder logic diagrams, input/output modules, power supplies, surge protection, selection/installation of controllers, and interfacing of controllers with equipment. Upon completion, students should be able to understand basic PLC systems and simple programs.

This course covers plumbing industry codes and regulations. Emphasis is placed on North Carolina regulations and the minimum requirements for plumbing materials and design. Upon completion, students should be able to research and interpret North Carolina plumbing codes.

This course introduces computer programming and problem solving in a structured program logic environment. Topics include language syntax, data types, program organization, problem solving methods, algorithm design, and logic control structures. Upon completion, students should be able to use top-down algorithm design and implement algorithmic solutions in a programming language. This course has been approved for transfer under the CAA and ICAA as a general education course in Mathematics (Quantitative).

This course introduces the basic refrigeration process used in mechanical refrigeration and air conditioning systems. Topics include terminology, safety, and identification and function of components; refrigeration cycle; and tools and instrumentation used in mechanical refrigeration systems. Upon completion, students should be able to identify refrigeration systems and components, explain the refrigeration process, and use the tools and instrumentation of the trade.

This course is an introduction to basic three-dimensional solid modeling and design software. Topics include basic design, creation, editing, rendering and analysis of solid models and creation of multiview drawings. Upon completion, students should be able to use design techniques to create, edit, render and generate a multiview drawing.

This course provides a comprehensive study of peri-operative care, patient care concepts, and professional practice concepts within the profession of surgical technology. Topics include introductory concepts, organizational structure and relationships, legal, ethical and moral issues, medical terminology, pharmacology, anesthesia, wound healing management concepts, and the technological sciences. Upon completion, students should be able to apply theoretical knowledge of the course topics to the practice of surgical technology.

This course covers workplace safety, hazardous materials, environmental regulations, hand tools, service information, basic concepts, vehicle systems, and common transportation industry terminology. Topics include familiarization with major vehicle systems, proper use of various hand and power tools, safety data sheets, and personal protective equipment. Upon completion, students should be able to demonstrate appropriate safety procedures, identify and use basic shop tools, and describe government regulations regarding transportation repair facilities.
