This course, the second in a series of two, is designed to teach professional communication skills. Emphasis is placed on research, listening, critical reading and thinking, analysis, interpretation, and design used in oral and written presentations. Upon completion, students should be able to work individually and collaboratively to produce well-organized business and professional written and oral presentations. This course has been approved for transfer under the CAA and ICAA as a general education course in English Composition.

This course provides employability skills and an overview of theoretical knowledge in preparation for certification. Topics include test-taking strategies, résumé preparation, interviewing strategies, communication skills, and teamwork concepts. Upon completion, students should be able to prepare a résumé, demonstrate appropriate interview techniques, and identify strengths and weaknesses in preparation for certification.

This course covers the personal competencies and qualities needed to project a professional image in the office. Topics include interpersonal skills, health lifestyles, appearance, attitude, personal and professional growth, multicultural awareness, and professional etiquette. Upon completion, students should be able to demonstrate these attributes in the classroom, office, and society.

Emphasis is placed on work readiness and theoretical concepts in microbiology, immunohematology, hematology, and clinical chemistry. This course introduces the study of the adjustment process focusing on contemporary challenges individuals must deal with in everyday life. Topics include theories of behavior, career choices, self-understanding, coping mechanisms, human relationships, intimacy, sociocultural factors influencing healthy personal adjustment, and other related topics. Upon completion, students should be able to demonstrate an awareness of the processes of adjustment. This course has been approved for transfer under the CAA and ICAA as a premajor and/or elective course requirement.

This course covers major personality theories and personality research methods. Topics include psychoanalytic, behavioristic, social learning, cognitive, humanistic, and trait theories including supporting research. Upon completion, students should be able to compare and contrast traditional and contemporary approaches to the understanding of individual differences in human behavior. This course has been approved for transfer under the CAA and ICAA as a general education course in Social/Behavioral Sciences.

This course provides instruction and experience in preparation and delivery of speeches within a public setting and group discussions. Emphasis is placed on research, preparation, delivery, and evaluation of informative, persuasive, and special occasion public speaking. Upon completion, students should be able to prepare and deliver well-organized speeches and participate in group discussions with appropriate audiovisual support. This course is a Universal General Education Transfer Component (UGETC) course and has been approved to transfer under the CAA and ICAA as a general education course in Communication for the Associate in Arts and Associate in Science degrees.

This course provides a study and analysis of the aspects and implications of quality management that lead to customer satisfaction through continuous improvement. Topics include Total Quality Management, ISO 9000, organizing for quality, supplier/vendor relationships, and the role of leadership in quality management. Upon completion, students should be able to demonstrate an understanding of quality management concepts and techniques.

This course is designed to engage students in complex and realistic situations involving the mathematical phenomena of quantity, change and relationship, and uncertainty through project-and activity-based assessment. Emphasis is placed on authentic contexts which will introduce the concepts of numeracy, proportional reasoning, dimensional analysis, rates of growth, personal finance, consumer statistics, practical probabilities, and mathematics for citizenship. Upon completion, students should be able to utilize quantitative information as consumers and to make personal, professional, and civic decisions by decoding, interpreting, using, and communicating quantitative information found in modern media and encountered in everyday life. This course is a Universal General Education Transfer Component (UGETC) course and has been approved to transfer under the CAA and ICAA as a general education course in Mathematics (Quantitative) for the Associate in Arts degree.

This course introduces patient management and basic radiographic procedures in the clinical setting. Emphasis is placed on mastering positioning of the chest and extremities, manipulating equipment, and applying principles of ALARA.
