This course introduces safety, equipment, structural damage analysis, and damage repairs. Topics include shop safety, design and construction, structural analysis and measurement, equipment, structural glass, repair techniques, and other related topics. Upon completion, students should be able to analyze and perform repairs to a vehicle which has received light/moderate structural damage.

This course provides an in-depth study of structural damage analysis and repairs to vehicles that have received moderate to heavy structural damage. Topics include shop safety, structural analysis and measurement, equipment, structural glass, advanced repair techniques, structural component replacement and alignment, and other related topics. Upon completion, students should be able to analyze and perform repairs according to industry standards.

This course is a study of substance abuse in our society. Topics include the history and classifications of drug abuse and the social, physical, and psychological impact of drug abuse. Upon completion, students should be able to identify various types of drugs, their effects on human behavior and society, and treatment modalities.

This course provides an orientation to the campus resources and academic skills necessary to achieve educational objectives. Emphasis is placed on an exploration of facilities and services, study skills, library skills, self-assessment, wellness, goal-setting, and critical thinking. Upon completion, students should be able to manage their learning experiences to successfully meet educational goals. Basic computer skills will be introduced to students unfamiliar with computers.

This course provides clinical experience with a variety of perioperative assignments to build upon skills learned in SUR 111. Emphasis is placed on the scrub and circulating roles of the surgical technologist including aseptic technique and basic case preparation for selected surgical procedures. Upon completion, students should be able to prepare, assist with, and dismantle basic surgical cases in both the scrub and circulating roles.

Emphasis is placed on greater technical skills, critical thinking, speed, efficiency, and autonomy in the operative setting. Upon completion, students should be able to function in the role of an entry-level surgical technologist.

This course provides an introduction to selected basic and intermediate surgical specialties that students are exposed to in the first clinical rotation. Emphasis is placed on related surgical anatomy, pathology, and procedures that enhance theoretical knowledge of patient care, instrumentation, supplies, and equipment. Upon completion, students should be able to correlate, integrate, and apply theoretical knowledge of the course topics to the clinical operative environment.
